Multiple Suspects Detained Following Amaranth Drive Double Stabbing

For Immediate Release: Sunday, August 31, 2025

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Investigative Section are investigating a Germantown double stabbing.

 

On Sunday, August 31, 2025, at approximately 2:34 a.m., 5th District officers responded to the 19500 block of Amaranth Drive for the report of a shooting.

 

The investigation determined that the incident involved multiple juvenile male suspects who brandished BB guns and began shooting at a group of people. During a confrontation, one adult male victim was stabbed in the back, and a second adult male victim sustained a slashing wound to his arm. Both victims were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

Upon officers’ arrival, a large group of suspects ran from the location and others drove away in vehicles toward the dead end of Amaranth Drive.

A perimeter was established, Maryland State Police provided helicopter support, and 1st District officers and Maryland-National Capital Park Police assisted in the response. 

 

After an extensive search, approximately 15 individuals were detained but no arrests were made.

 

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
