Detour Due to the Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade on Monday, Sept.1, Will Impact Ride On Bus Route 57 in Gaithersburg – Mocofeed

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, August 27, 2025

Due to the Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade, Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s (MCDOT) Ride On Bus Route 57, between Lakeforest and Shady Grove, will experience a detour on Monday, Sept, 1, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ride On routes will operate on a Sunday Schedule for the Labor Day holiday. Details of the detour can be found below. Dashed lines on the maps represent bypassed routes.

BUS ROUTE 57 TO LAKEFOREST:

From East Diamond Avenue and Girard Street, right onto Girard Street, right onto North Summit Avenue, left onto Odendhal Avenue, right onto the Lakeforest service road, right onto Lost Knife Road, to the terminal stand at Lakeforest.

Stops bypassed include: 21818 (East Diamond Avenue & Girard Street), 17053 (East Diamond Avenue & North Summit Avenue), 21822 (East Diamond Avenue & Park Avenue), 25690 (Russell Avenue & East Diamond Avenue), 25692 (Russell Avenue & Brooks Avenue), 25696 (Russell Avenue & Walker Avenue), 25698 (Russell Avenue & Asbury Village Apartments), 24644 (Odendhal Avenue & Russell Avenue). Use stops before and after the detour. 

BUS ROUTE 57 TO SHADY GROVE:

From the Lakeforest terminal stand on Lost Knife Road, left onto Odendhal Avenue, right onto North Summit Avenue, left onto Girard Street, left onto East Diamond Avenue and back on route.

Stops bypassed include: 24648 (Odendhal Avenue & Russell Avenue), 25714 (Russell Avenue & Odendhal Avenue), 25716 (Russell Avenue & Asbury Village Apartments), 25718 (Russell Avenue & Maryland Avenue), 25720 (Russell Avenue & Walker Avenue), 25722 (Russell Avenue & Brooks Avenue), 25724 (Russell Avenue & East Diamond Avenue), 21812 (East Diamond Avenue & Girard Street), 21814 (East Diamond Avenue & Girard Street). Use stops before and after detour. 

The County implemented a zero-fare policy, that went into effect on Sunday, June 29, for all Ride On, Ride On extRa, Ride On Flex and Flash buses.
