Catalytic converter theft has become a growing concern in our region. To help prevent these crimes and protect your vehicle, the Montgomery County Department of Police is teaming up with local dealerships and auto repair shops to offer free catalytic converter etching and painting for Montgomery County residents.
Â
This service includes etching a unique identification number onto your catalytic converter, which will be stored in a secure database in case it’s ever stolen. Additionally, the application of bright paint and a window cling decal will serve as a visible deterrent to potential thieves and signal to buyers that the converter is traceable and potentially stolen.
Â
Together, we can take simple steps to make our community safer. We encourage residents to take advantage of this free service and help spread the word.
Â
Media, please contact the Public Information Division to confirm attendance.
