Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will join Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Secretary Jake Day and Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP) President Robert Goldman to celebrate the opening of the Residences at Forest Glen, a new rental housing development with 189 affordable units near public transit.
Located at 2106 Belvedere Blvd. in Silver Spring, the collaboration with MHP, a nonprofit community organization, replaced an aging property with modern units. Montgomery County’s significant investment of $30.8 million enabled MHP to expand the number of affordable homes from 72 outdated units to 189 new units. The development will include a range of one-, two- and three-bedroom units to accommodate multiple family sizes, and all of the rental homes are affordable at 60% Area Median Income (AMI) or below.
The project is also supported by the federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit program, which is administered by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development.
