Fallen Heroes Memorial Service
Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.

WHERE:
Montgomery County Public Safety Memorial

100 Edison Park Drive, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20878

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation, which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. During Police Week, law enforcement officers and survivors from around the world come to Washington, D.C., to participate in events that honor fallen officers.

Throughout this month, the Montgomery County Police Department will remember and honor our fallen officers, beginning with a vigil and memorial service at the Public Safety Headquarters.

Starting at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, current and former Montgomery County public safety employees will participate in a 24-hour vigil at the Public Safety Memorial outside Police Headquarters in Gaithersburg. Officers will stand watch in shifts to honor our fallen colleagues.

A candlelight vigil will be held at the memorial site at 8 p.m. that evening.

On Wednesday, May 7, at 10:30 a.m., the Montgomery County Police Department, Sheriff’s Office, and Maryland-National Capital Park Police – Montgomery County Division will honor our fallen heroes at the annual Fallen Heroes Memorial Service.

Media and Members of the public are welcome to attend.
