Montgomery County Council to Hold Public Hearings on April 22 and 29 and May 7, 2025

The County Council will hold public hearings to receive testimony on new items introduced to the Council as follows:
April 22, 2025 at 1:30 p.m.
Deadline to sign up to speak is April 21 at 2 p.m.
Public hearing on a Proposed FY26 Real Property Tax Rate Increase: For the taxable year beginning July 1, 2025, the Montgomery County Council is considering a proposal to increase real property tax rates from $0.6700 per $100 of assessment to $0.709 per $100 of assessment. A public hearing on the proposed real property tax rate increase will be held at 1:30 p.m. on April 22, 2025, at the Council Office Building. The hearing is open to the public, and public testimony is encouraged. The deadline to register to provide testimony at the hearing is April 21, 2025, at 2 p.m. Persons with questions regarding this hearing may call 240-777-7803 for further information.
Residents have the opportunity to testify remotely for public hearings or provide in-person testimony at the Council Office Building in Rockville. Residents can register to speak at a public hearing, provide written testimony, prerecorded audio or video testimony via www.montgomerycountymd.gov/COUNCIL/testify.html ; or sent by mail to County Council, 100 Maryland Ave., Rockville, MD 20850; or residents may sign up to testify remotely by phone (call 240-777-7803 for information). - Resolution to set FY26 Property Tax Credit for Income Tax Offset: Each year the Council may set a property tax credit to offset a portion of the income tax revenue resulting from a county income tax rate that is greater than 2.6 percent. The credit is automatically applied to each property that is an owner-occupied dwelling of a homeowner.
- Resolution to approve Supplemental Appropriation #25-67 to the FY25 Operating Budget, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), Clean School Bus Grant, $4,700,000 (Source of Funds: Federal Grant)

Deadline to sign up to speak is April 28 at 10 a.m.
- Bill 11-25, Child Care Coordination – Amendments , would eliminate the Child Care and Early Education Officer, eliminate the Early Childhood Coordinating Council, and generally amend the Code relating to early childhood care and education.
May 7, 2025 at 1:30 p.m.
Deadline to sign up to speak is May 6 at 2 p.m.
