“Earth Month is a great time to remember how important it is to take care of our planet,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “This month, and all year long, I encourage everyone to make more sustainable choices and get involved in the activities offered by our County’s Department of Environmental Protection. We only have one Earth, so let’s do our part to protect it.”

DEP will host events, activities, announcements and celebrations designed to inspire action, promote sustainability and encourage environmental stewardship, including:

  • Tree Montgomery 10th Anniversary Celebration: Friday, April 25. DEP will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Tree Montgomery program , with 18,400 trees planted throughout the County.

“Everyone has a role to play in protecting our air, water and land,” said DEP Director Jon Monger. “DEP’s mission is to build a more sustainable economy and healthier communities. But we can’t do it alone—our success relies on residents and businesses taking action to preserve the environment. Earth Month is a reminder of how crucial it is to take action year-round to protect our planet. I hope you’ll join us this April as we celebrate and take steps toward a brighter future.”
