Montgomery County Hosts Streamlined One-Day Hiring Event for Correctional Officers on Saturday, April 12

Montgomery County is hosting a Streamlined One-Day Hiring Event from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, at the Public Safety Headquarters, located at 100 Edison Park Drive in Gaithersburg. The Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation (DOCR) is looking to fill several open correctional officer positions and seeks interested and qualified applicants.
The event will streamline the review process and make it easier for those interested in a position to complete the exams and physicals required to be offered a job.
DOCR is responsible for managing adult male and female offenders, providing rehabilitation programs and overseeing individuals in pre-trial status or serving sentences of up to 18 months.

Base compensation begins at $59,966 and includes potential increases up to $68,288 or more by year three. Correctional Officer positions provide opportunities for career advancement, competitive benefits and multiple retirement plans. Correctional Officer positions are set up for success with paid continuous departmental education and training.

“We know that this has become a tough job market with so many people losing work at the federal level,” said DOCR Director Ben Stevenson. “We are in search of people with and without military backgrounds who are willing to try something new and find a fulfilling career. We have a duty and a mission to keep order and treat people fairly to ensure safety throughout our correctional facility.”
All qualified applicants must hold a GED or be high school graduates with at least one-year of full-time work experience after graduation.
