Metro Red Line Service Will Have Disruptions This Weekend, Saturday, Feb. 1 and Sunday, Feb. 2

Due to maintenance work, Bethesda, Friendship Heights, and Tenleytown stations on the Red Line will be closed on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 7 a.m. – 1 a.m. and on Sunday, Feb. 2 from 7 a.m. – midnight. Metrobus will run shuttles as detailed below.
Metro maintenance work will include replacing switches, performing rail and fastener renewal, maintaining the third rail, and conducting grout pad repair and leak mitigation. Below are the anticipated service impacts.
Red Line:
Trains will run every 8 minutes during the day and every 10 minutes in the evening between Shady Grove and Medical Center and between Van Ness-UDC and Glenmont. Bethesda, Friendship Heights, and Tenleytown stations will be closed.
Metrobus will operate free shuttles to replace trains between Van Ness-UDC and Medical Center. Shuttles will run every 6-8 minutes during rail operating hours. The Express shuttle will serve Medical Center and Van Ness-UDC (estimated travel time is 23 minutes). The Local shuttle will serve Medical Center, Bethesda, Tenleytown, Friendship Heights, and Van Ness-UDC.
