Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection Opens Registration for 2025 Energy Summit

For Immediate Release: Monday, January 13, 2025

The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has announced that registration is now open for the 12th Annual Montgomery County Energy Summit. The Summit is scheduled to take place Tuesday and Wednesday, April 8-9, 2025, at the Silver Spring Civic Building at Veterans Plaza. Early bird registration rates are available through Monday, Jan. 27.

The Silver Spring Civic Building is located at 1 Veterans Place in Silver Spring.

The Summit’s theme, “Beyond Benchmarking: Navigating Energy Performance,” will provide attendees with strategies and insights for improving building energy performance and meeting emerging regulations.

“The Energy Summit offers essential guidance for our building community as we work toward our ambitious climate goals strategic plan to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 80 percent by 2027 and 100 percent by 2035,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “I encourage both newcomers and seasoned leaders in the commercial building sector to register for this year’s event. It is a unique opportunity to explore the latest advancements in energy efficiency, sustainable practices and emerging opportunities—all critical for advancing our shared goal of enhancing the quality of life in our community.”

The two-day summit will feature:

  • Expert-led educational sessions.
  • Interactive technology demonstrations in Innovation Alley.
  • Implementation strategies for performance standards.
  • Networking opportunities with industry leaders.
  • Hands-on support for compliance requirements.

“This year’s Energy Summit is centered on practical solutions for enhancing building performance,” said DEP Director Jon Monger. “Attendees will gain invaluable insights from industry experts and have the opportunity to connect with solutions providers who can guide them beyond basic benchmarking and help achieve meaningful, long-term energy improvements.”

DEP anticipates more than 300 attendees from the commercial building sector, including building owners, property managers, developers, energy contractors and sustainability professionals from the DMV area.
