Gaithersburg, MD – A 26-year-old man is in custody following the attempted sexual assault of a teenager in Gaithersburg.
On Monday, June 17, 2024, shortly before 3 p.m., the female victim entered an elevator in an office building in the 800 block of Russell Ave. in Gaithersburg. The suspect, later identified as Samuel Deweh Gray, Jr., allegedly began violently assaulting the victim until witnesses intervened. He then ran away, and Montgomery County Police K-9 conducted a search of the area but were not able to locate Gray, Jr.
Through the course of the investigation, Gray, Jr. was identified as a possible suspect.
Gray, Jr., who has no known address, was arrested on Tuesday, June 18. He has been charged with attempted first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree assault and second-degree assault.
He is currently being held in the Montgomery County the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit without bond.
