Posted on June 10, 2024

For Immediate Release: Monday, June 10, 2024

Montgomery County will host the fourth annual “Pride in the Plaza” event from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, at Veterans Plaza in Downtown Silver Spring. The County is partnering with Live in Your Truth Programs and the MoCo Pride Center to host the free event and is seeking sponsors, volunteers and exhibitors.

Veterans Plaza is located at 1 Veterans Place in Spring, adjacent to the Silver Spring Civic Building. Free parking will be available in the Ellsworth Drive parking garage adjacent to the plaza.

The day will include food, live music, a family zone, a resource and vendor fair and the 2024 Drag Duels championship competition. The event will conclude with the fourth annual Pride in the Plaza Min-Ball, a free voguing competition with cash prizes. The voguing competition will begin at 5 p.m. and is held in partnership with the Capitol Ballroom Council.

Free tickets are available here . The first 500 people to arrive at the festival will receive a free, commemorative Pride in the Plaza t-shirt.

“It is important for all of us to recognize Pride Month,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “We want everyone to know that they have a place here in this community. Pride in the Plaza is a fun way to do that, and its reputation as one of the most popular events in the region is well deserved. I encourage everyone to check it out.”
