Gaithersburg, MD – The Montgomery County Department of Police 3rd District Station, in collaboration with the Maryland State Police (MSP), conducted a high-visibility patrol initiative aimed at reducing crime and improving quality of life in and around the Silver Spring area. This joint effort took place from Monday, May 20 through Wednesday, May 22, focusing on key locations including MD Route 29, I-495, and surrounding areas.
The combined initiative, which targeted the Route 29 corridor, particularly in the Fairland and Briggs Chaney areas of the county achieved the following outcomes:
- 102 traffic stops
- 71 citations issued
- 99 warnings issued
- 2 warrant arrests
- 3 impaired driving arrests
- 1 handgun arrest
- 1 recovered stolen vehicle
Chief Marcus Jones stated, “Our partnership with the Maryland State Police exemplifies our dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents. By focusing on high-visibility patrols and strategic enforcement, we aim to deter criminal activity and address quality of life issues that impact our community.”
This coordinated effort highlights the commitment of MCPD and MSP to enhancing traffic safety and crime suppression through proactive patrols and community engagement.
