Rockville, MD- Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, the Honorable Debra Dwyer sentenced defendant Jorden Hungerford, 20, to life in prison, suspending all but 40 years to serve, and five years of supervised probation upon release. Following a ten-day trial in May, a jury found Hungerford guilty of first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. This stems from the murder of 20-year-old Henry Krishawn Gilbert of Montgomery Village.
On April 26, 2025, on Brookridge Court in Gaithersburg, the victim, Henry Gilbert, was found deceased inside a green Honda Civic that had struck a curb with the engine still running. He had been shot in the head, execution style, while sitting in his vehicle. Following an investigation by the Montgomery County Police Homicide Unit, Hungerford and co-defendant Demari Brown, 21, of Montgomery Village, were arrested. The investigation determined Hungerford posed as a female friend of the victim via social media messages, luring the victim to the location by requesting to buy seventy dollars’ worth of marijuana from him. The defendants then arrived at Brookridge Court, where they robbed and shot Gilbert. Brown pulled the trigger.
Brown pleaded guilty to first-degree murder. He was sentenced on November 2, 2026, to life in prison, with all but 45 years suspended, and five years of supervised probation upon release.
Assistant State’s Attorneys Teresa Casafranca and Lauren Turner prosecuted this case.
“We express our deepest condolences to the family of the victim. Despite the decriminalization of marijuana, illegal sales continue, and the community should be aware that this activity is associated with extreme risk. As the judge made clear with the sentences in this case, we cannot and will not tolerate senseless, deadly gun violence,” said State’s Attorney John McCarthy.
