Isreal Park Field Renovation Sets Stage for New Youth Baseball League
November 1, 2026
A renovated baseball field at Isreal Park will become home to the Pint Isreal Instructional Baseball League in spring, connecting youth baseball programs with the Lincoln Park community and Pint Isreal’s legacy.
The city plans to move its existing instructional T-ball and coach-pitch programs to the field and relaunch them under the new league name.
Clarence “Pint” Isreal was a Negro League baseball player raised in Rockville who played for the Newark Eagles and Homestead Grays, helping the Eagles win the 1946 Negro World Series. A longtime Lincoln Park resident, he later coached and mentored young people and co-founded the Black Angels Boys Club. Rockville named Isreal Park in his honor in 1988.
City staff are working with the Isreal family and neighborhood residents to help shape the league’s identity and make the renovated field a place for a new generation of Rockville children to learn baseball.
Fall renovations include leveling the infield with laser-guided equipment, adding infield mix and laying new sod to reshape the infield arc. The work is expected to take one to two weeks, but the field will remain closed through the rest of the fall to allow the sod to take root.
