Three Named Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools
October 20, 2026
Rockville, MD – Beverly Farms Elementary School, Somerset Elementary School and Travilah Elementary School have been named 2026-2027 Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools.
The awards recognize the schools’ exceptional performance on state and national assessments, as well as their success in closing achievement gaps among student groups as compared to the state average.
Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools honored 23 exemplary schools throughout the state, 12 of which are public schools, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore announced on Oct. 20. The program is administered by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).
“This recognition is a well-deserved celebration of the incredible dedication of our students, teachers and school communities at Beverly Farms, Somerset and Travilah Elementary schools,” said (MCPS) Superintendent Thomas Taylor “Teaching has never been more demanding, and I see every day the hard work and commitment our educators bring to their classrooms. As student performance data across our district continues to move in the right direction, these Blue Ribbon honors demonstrate what is possible when intentional instructional support aligns with the professional judgment and talent of our teachers and school staff. We remain committed to raising our standards and delivering the high-quality education our community expects and deserves.”
