The County Council will hold public hearings to receive testimony on new items introduced to the Council as follows:
Jan. 16, 2024 at 1:30 p.m.
Deadline to sign up to speak is Jan. 15 at 2 p.m.
- Bill 43-23, Crisis Intervention Team – Established, would establish a crisis intervention team as a joint program of the Montgomery County Police Department and the County Department of Health and Human Services, prescribe the responsibilities and duties of the crisis intervention team, permit the participation of other law enforcement entities in the crisis intervention team, require the development of a sequential intercept model for individuals in the County experiencing crises related to mental health, behavioral health, or substance use disorder, establish an advisory committee to support the crisis intervention team, specify the membership, responsibilities, and staffing of the advisory committee, require annual reporting and program evaluation, and generally, amend the laws regarding policing, law enforcement, services for mental and behavioral health needs, and services for individuals with substance use disorders.
- Bill 44-23, Human Rights and Civil Liberties – Prospective Employees – Health Care Privacy , would limit inquiries by employers regarding certain health information of prospective employees, prohibit inquiries by employers regarding certain sexual and reproductive health information of prospective employees, limit consideration by employers of certain health information of prospective employees, permit enforcement by the Office of Human Rights and the Commission on Human Rights, and generally, amend the laws regarding human rights and health care privacy.

Advisory Commission on Policing
The Montgomery County Council is seeking applicants to fill 11 public member vacancies on the Advisory Commission on Policing. Applications for the three-year appointments are due by 5 p.m. on Dec. 15, 2023.
