ROCKVILLE, Md., Oct. 5, 2026—The Montgomery County Council will hold its thirteenth annual Hispanic Heritage Month commemoration on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 11:30 a.m.
The theme of this year’s commemoration is “Unidos, Somos Más: Celebrating the Stories, Strength, and Contributions of Our Latino Community,” and will include a musical performance by local folkloric dance group DNZ Folklore with Renato Soria and Dany Soria, a special video program, and a Council proclamation.
The video program will feature interviews with community members of the County’s Hispanic community, including David Zambrano, a nationally renowned artist; José Campos, attorney and founder of the Law Offices of Campos & Associates; and Amanda Santiago Álvarez, senior at John F. Kennedy High School.
“‘Unidos, Somos Más’ speaks to who we are in Montgomery County,” said Council Natali President Fani-González. “Our Latino community bring together different countries of origin, generations, cultures and experiences, and that diversity makes our entire County stronger. This celebration is an opportunity to come together, honor our traditions and remind every person in our community that they are valued, welcomed and that they belong.”
The commemoration will be held during the Council’s morning meeting and will be streamed live on the Council’s Facebook page, YouTube channel and at the Council website. Residents also will be able to watch live on television on Comcast/RCN channels 996/1056 Verizon channel 30.
