Budget Hearing Scheduled for November
October 1, 2026
The City of Rockville is heading into budget season once again, with the Mayor and Council’s first public hearing on the Fiscal Year 2028 budget scheduled for Monday, Nov. 9.Â
The city is committed to making financial information accessible, understandable and transparent.Â
Rockville’s interactive Financial Transparency Portal provides high-level summaries of the city’s revenues, expenditures and debt, with options to explore the figures in greater detail. Users can compare financial data across multiple years, filter information by fund and department, switch between chart formats, and download data.Â
Users can drill down to examine individual revenue sources and departmental spending, review historical trends and see per-capita figures. By entering a home value, users can also view an estimate of how their property taxes contribute to different spending categories.Â
The portal also provides demographic information and explanations of the city’s fund balance policies, Capital Improvements Program and approach to debt management.Â

The $186.8 million budget for Fiscal Year 2027, which began July 1, maintains the city’s real property tax rate of $0.292 per $100 of assessed valuation, which is paid by residential and commercial property owners.Â
The FY27 adopted Capital Improvements Program includes new appropriations of $35.2 million and supports 56 capital projects. The budget includes seven new capital projects that prioritize asset preservation, regulatory compliance, safety and placemaking while positioning the city for long-term sustainability.Â
The city manager’s FY28 budget proposal will be published in March, followed by public hearings and work sessions before the budget is adopted in May. For more information about Rockville’s budget, visit rockvillemd.gov/budget.Â
