Gaithersburg, MD – Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old Gaithersburg man following a confrontation with an unknown suspect.
On Sunday, September 13, 2026, at approximately 2:02 a.m., Rockville City Police and Montgomery County Department of Police 1st District officers responded to the parking lot of Quincy’s, located in the 1000 block of Seven Locks Road, for the report of a shooting that just occurred.

Upon arrival, officers located Nicholas Njuki in the parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel provided lifesaving efforts, but Njuki was pronounced dead at the scene.
Major Crimes Division homicide detectives were notified and responded to the location.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Njuki and the unknown male suspect had been involved in a confrontation inside the restaurant. Njuki and another person then left the restaurant together in a vehicle and drove away.
Near the intersection of Fortune Terrace and Northside Park Boulevard, Njuki encountered the suspect, who was in a separate vehicle. Njuki was outside of the vehicle he had been traveling in when the suspect shot him.
The suspect then fired at the person who was with Njuki. That person drove away from the area and called 9-1-1. The suspect also drove away from the scene.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
