The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will begin its fall washdown of all 21 County-owned parking garages in Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Wheaton on nights and weekends. The cleanings are scheduled to begin in Bethesda on Monday, Sept. 14 and conclude in Silver Spring on Thursday, Nov. 12.
The semi-annual cleaning helps prevent grease, oil, and debris from entering local waterways. It also helps protect parking facilities from deterioration and offers residents and visitors a clean place to park.
Some garages may experience partial closures during cleaning, including select entrance and exit areas and ramps. MCDOT contractors will work around garage traffic and parked vehicles, when possible, with signs posted to notify customers of anticipated impacts.
Customers are encouraged to check the garage cleaning schedule before their visit and follow posted signage while cleaning is underway.
