Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have charged 23-year-old Daymonte Antonyio Jones of District Heights in connection with a carjacking that occurred on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, in the 8700 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.
At approximately 7:45 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the location for the report of a carjacking.

The investigation revealed that the victim returned to her vehicle and found a suspect seated in the driver’s seat. An altercation occurred, during which the victim was dragged along the roadway and sustained significant injuries. The suspect left in the victim’s vehicle and crashed it after a brief pursuit into Washington, D.C.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Jones as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant charging him with carjacking.
Jones was arrested on Monday, August 31, 2026, and is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Detention Center.
