Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that resulted in the death of 61-year-old Craig Anthony Budd, of Gaithersburg.
On Friday, August 28, 2026, at approximately 8:10 p.m., 6th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue responded to the intersection of North Frederick Avenue and Professional Drive for the report of a collision involving a black 2006 BMW 325i and a pedestrian.
The initial investigation has revealed that Budd was crossing north of the intersection when he was struck by the driver of the BMW, traveling north on North Frederick Avenue.
Budd was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the striking vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with CRU detectives.
