Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal single vehicle collision that occurred on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in Silver Spring. The collision resulted in the death of 28-year-old, John William Stacey of Silver Spring.
At approximately 4:39 a.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the 11800 block of New Hampshire Avenue for the report of a single vehicle collision.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that a gray 2010 Mercedes, driven by Stacey, was traveling northbound on New Hampshire Avenue, when for reasons under investigation, the vehicle struck a median curb, near Tracey Drive and then left roadway, striking a tree.
Tracey was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced dead.
