Montgomery County Council to Hold Public Hearings on Nov. 28, 2023 and Jan. 16, 2024 – MocoFeed

The County Council will hold public hearings to receive testimony on new items introduced to the Council as follows:

Nov. 28, 2023 at 1:30 p.m.
Deadline to sign up to speak is Nov. 27 at 2 p.m.

Bill 40-23 , Tree Canopy and Roadside Tree Requirements – Fee Revisions, would amend fees payable to the Tree Canopy Conservation Account; amend fees payable to the Street Tree Planting Fund; and generally, amend the laws regarding tree canopy requirements and roadside tree work.

  • Supplemental Appropriation #24-27 to the FY24 Operating Budget, Montgomery County Public Schools, Reducing Overidentification in Special Education Grant, $1,000,000 (Source of Funds: State Grant)
  • Supplemental Appropriation #24-28 to the FY24 Operating Budget, Montgomery County Public Schools, Stronger Connections Grant, $3,000,000 (Source of Funds: State Grant)

Deadline to sign up to speak is Jan. 15 at 2 p.m.

  • Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) 23-38, Transferable Development Rights – Cemetery, would allow certain parcels in the Agricultural Reserve (AR) zone that have Transfer of Development Rights (TDRs) to be allowed to be used as cemeteries; and generally, amend the provisions for TDRs.
  • Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) 23-39, Farming – Incidental Outdoor Stays, would allow incidental outdoor stays as a part of agritourism; and generally, amend the accessory farming uses.

To testify in-person or remotely during a live public hearing at the Council Office Building, residents need to preregister on the Council’s web page . Residents may also choose to provide pre-recorded testimony in written, audio or video formats or submit testimony by mail.
