En SintonĂa Highlights Flooding Preparedness and Summer Recreation, Friday at 2 p.m. on Radio America – Mocofeed

Posted on July 10, 2026

The featured guests on this week’s edition of En SintonĂa con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council) will include Ana Arriaza, partnership and engagement manager for the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection, and Monika Hammer, communications manager for Montgomery County Recreation. The show will air on Friday, July 10 at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM) and is streamed on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music.

The program’s first segment will focus on flood preparedness, one of the most important public safety topics in Montgomery County, where flooding is among the most common natural hazards during periods of heavy rain, hurricanes and severe thunderstorms. Listeners will learn how to prepare by staying informed about weather forecasts and flood warnings, determining whether their home is in a flood-prone area, assembling an emergency kit and developing an evacuation plan. The discussion also will emphasize the importance of never driving through flooded roads or walking through floodwaters. Ana Arriaza will share practical recommendations to help residents protect themselves, their families and their property.

The second half of the program will highlight Montgomery County’s public pools and aquatic programs. Montgomery County Recreation operates seven outdoor pools and seven indoor aquatic centers, offering lap swimming, water exercise, swim lessons and recreational swimming throughout the year. Outdoor pools are open daily during the summer season, while indoor pools operate year-round with hours that vary by location. Monika Hammer will discuss pool locations, operating hours, admission rates and the variety of aquatic programs available to residents and visitors.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express their views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station.

Each week, the show features host Marcela Rodriguez, Council program manager and public information officer, and guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
