Gaithersburg, MD – Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police have arrested and charged 58-year-old Ademu Cummings of Silver Spring in connection with a series of burglaries that occurred in the 1200 block of Spring Street in Silver Spring.
On Monday, May 25, 2026, at approximately 1:56 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the Montgomery County Garage facilities office in the 1200 block of Silver Spring Street for the report of a burglary that occurred earlier.
During the investigation, detectives identified Cummings and determined he had entered the facility multiple times during the overnight hours from Saturday, May 23, 2026, to Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
On Sunday, June 5, officers from the 3rd District Special Assignment Team (SAT) positively identified Cummings from video surveillance obtained from the facility.
On Wednesday, June 8, detectives applied for and received an arrest warrant for Cummings, charging him with burglary and other related offenses.
On Thursday, June 9, officers from the 3rd District Central Business District Team (CBD) observed Cummings in the area of the 800 block of Roeder Road. When officers attempted to place Cummings in custody, he jumped from a rooftop. He was located and subsequently arrested without further incident in the 8700 block of Colesville Road.
Cummings was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment following injuries sustained while jumping from the rooftop.
He is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit (CPU) where he was served with his arrest warrant.
